(4) Выше было предложено двоякое толкование Хлеба жизни: откровение Иисуса и плоть и кровь Иисуса. В Лк 24:27–35 говорится о двух способах узнавания воскресшего Иисуса: толковании Писаний и преломлении хлеба. Это может быть зарождением формата литургической службы, столетиями питавшей христиан: службы слова (чтения и проповеди Писаний) и службы таинства (евхаристии). Церкви иногда расходились в вопросе о том, чему отдать предпочтение, но часто идеалом было включение и того и другого в воскресную службу. Читателям стоит подумать над собственным опытом церковной жизни (особенно если за последние десятилетия произошли какие‑то изменения) и посмотреть, как на самом деле соблюдается этот баланс[701].

(5) Как я заметил выше, изучение истории Иоанновой общины и обсуждение источников и композиции Ин не означает экзегезу в смысле выяснения, какую мысль автор хотел донести до своих читателей. Возможно, я уделил слишком много внимания вопросам контекста и слишком мало — тому, как Евангелие помогает читателю поверить, что Иисус — Мессия, Сын Божий, и тем самым обрести жизнь во имя Его (20:31). Климент Александрийский называл Ин «духовным Евангелием». Многое в Ин подтверждает такой взгляд, например, учебная в своей простоте картина, показывающая, как через рождение в воде и Духе верующие получают жизнь Божью и как через плоть и кровь Иисуса эта жизнь питается и поддерживается; драматургический акцент на индивидуальном контакте с Иисусом; обобщающая роль таких фигур Ин, как слепорожденный или самаритянка, олицетворяющих различные виды реакции на Иисуса; речь о любви, связывающей верующих с Иисусом, как любовь связывает Сына с Отцом; пребывание Параклета, через которого Иисус остается доступным; важность ученичества, в котором каждый может принять участие. Для Ин нет «граждан второго сорта» среди истинных верующих. Все они — дети Божьи во Христе.
